Looking on the bright side

Hello world!  The nasty ‘flu is over but I have been given instructions to have a proper convalescence.  I was off my feet for a couple of weeks and am now up and pottering about with lots of wee sits in between. Thanks for all the messages. I kept thinking about the online world and then ended up failing to summon enough energy to sit upright in front of the screen – and as for the weight of the laptop……… wimp-out.

The good news is that tomorrow is the start of my Birthday Month festival; add that to the “treat yourself well” to get better and I have every excuse for some serious therapy of whatever takes my fancy.  The sad news is the state of world affairs. Nowadays we live with this constant background of wars, violence, earthquake, flood and trauma. My confession is that I’ve rationed how much real life I can take.

Over the next week or two I hope to catch up on reading some blogland news – then things will feel more normal.

  1. Ha!! Two good things to remember. I can have a birthday month, and its okay to wimp out on reality once in a while….like for your whole birthday month maybe!! Have a good one. Mine is in May, and I will be looking for pointers. Dianne PS. Glad to see you back from whereever you were.

  2. Welcome back to the (Sur)real world freda. So glad you are a little better. My birthday is in March too (not that i regard it as a cause for celebration), Hope yours is a happy one.

Glad to have you back. As bad as the world new is, there seems to be a glimmer of better things to come in some places. I hope that’s true.

Hooray, Freda! You’re back! Your birthday month is just in time for some serious and much-needed pampering! Are there rules about birthday month? My February birthday just passed so could my birthday month extend into March or do I have to wait a whole year and celebrate February? LOL! I hope you follow your instructions for that proper convalescence.

So glad you are feeling better! And I am thrilled to know about the concept of the Birthday Month; I’m already making big plans for mine in May.

It sounds like you had a serious bout of the flu. I am so glad that you are feeling better. A high school boy in the Portland, Oregon, area died from flu last week – a formerly healthy, well-adjusted good student gone in a flash – and his schoolmates are holding memorial services in stunned shock. It is nothing to fool around with, so go slow and take good care.
