Significant day

Today is a significant one in my calendar of special days. Fifteen years since I was inducted into my first post as a parish minister. It is incredible how quickly the years have flown. And there is a poignancy in the fact that I had expected to be working well into my sixties – maybe even to seventy. It is worth noting that we never know what the future holds. I retired early on medical advice, and I am happy to say that I have learnt much about pacing myself and enjoying the moment.

Enjoy your moments today.

This post piques my curiosity to know more. It sounds as if only now a new minister is coming to replace you. I wonder then how long ago you retired, and I’m sad that it was a medical decision to do so. But now your inspiration reaches beyond your parish all the way to Oregon, USA, and I find much peace and happiness by reading your blog.

Thank you Lydia, that is a great comfort. I am not presently living in my old parish. We moved forty miles away to be nearer three of our sons, whilst staying in close contact with our disabled son in Oban. I shall remember what you have said on the days when I wonder whether it is worth writing the blog!

Oh, I hope so! Just because there isn’t always a comment doesn’t mean that your post any given day didn’t delight many.

I’m glad you’re nearer your sons and 40 miles isn’t too terribly far when you want to return to your old parish.

p.s. I’ll say here rather than at the two recent posts: Misty looks great, but I understand how you miss the scragglepup look! And it is SO exciting about you meeting a fellow blogger from Australia!
