Banking mayhem

Actually, this is really about cash machines and how things can go wrong. In a Co-op store I needed to draw out some cash and decided to use their decidely clunky-looking ATM. It timed out, refused to give me any money, told me to contact my bank and spat my card back out! On enquiring with the store manager and the staff in a nearby bank, it transpired that this particular machine was often giving people trouble.

Thus I was involved in long phone calls with my bank and they confirm that the money had been debited from my account. Apparently they have to make a claim for the money to the Co-op bank on my behalf. Always presuming that all the other transactions that day were in order, they should be able to see that the machine balance is over on the day in question. Then all being well I will get the money recredited to my account in a couple of weeks.

What a palaver. And all of a sudden I am wary about cash machines.

Sunday smiles

Approaching the caravan site shop yesterday morning I saw the shopkeeper sweeping the front steps.
“Do you sell Sunday papers?” I asked
“Only on Sundays” was the quick reply.

I wonder how often he had been able to use that quip. Anyway, it made me a smile.

Another way of thinking

From Mary Robins

Long she rested within her own inner larva skin,
dried,
unshaped,
sleeping.

Slowly she opened:
her inner butterfly,
new and moist,
came to her.

They rested together in the Sun;
she let the butterfly reach her inner being.

And there SHE was,
Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer Being –
Beautiful, Perfect Love.

And as she walked under the trees
she knew Christ is risen

Well behaved dog

Misty was at the vet yesterday  to get her eyes checked. She has had a shortage of “tears” in her right eye for some time, which necessitates ointment every day. (That is the tears you cry rather than tears that cause blood.) Anyway, the other eye has been looking a bit red and it has to be watched carefully in any case, so off we trotted to the vets. Well, to be accurate, the humans trotted – the dog had to be carried. She has a slight infection so requires antibiotic in that eye. Have you got it? One ointment once a day in the right eye and another ointment twice a day in the left eye.

This house is getting more and more cluttered up with pills and potions. Never mind, I am assured they all serve to keep the occupants healthy.

Feathered Friends

New visitors to the bird feeder. (Collared doves)  Very welcome till they were discovered eating up all the sunflower seeds in one greedy binge. The seed-feeder has now been relegated to a hook they can’t reach, and they are having to put up with the leftovers on the ground.
