Beauty Therapy

Yesterday was beauty therapy day …… for the dog. This time round it was home grown. The professional fee is a bit steep for retired owners. So Dana received around two hours of grooming, thinning and bathing. The bathing was the really challenging bit. Strange how a dog who takes every opportunity to lie in muddy water is reluctant to do the same in a bath. Duly showered and coiffed she spent the rest of the day showing off to the cat. Eventually, I had to give in and rummage around for a new collar for him. once he had been brushed and presented with the said collar he showed off back at the dog.

Earthquake

What can be said in the face of such devastating loss of life? Perhaps there are lessons to be learned about profiteering and the construction industry, but mostly an earthquake is one of those events out of human control. At least India and Pakistan are putting aside their differences over Kashmir to help in a united way.

Visiting

The cat is displaying serious signs of insecurity. He sits on my knee and starts to dig his claws in, doing this ad infinitum until it becomes unbearable. At one point today I lost my patience with him totally, smacked him on the nose and threw him on the floor. Unfortunately the dog was between him and the floor. She was a bit surprised. He is now staying well clear and I am enjoying the respite, though I doubt it will last long.

Funny how he is the same colour (and temperament) as Garfield.

Babysitting duties

To Linlithgow today for babysitting duties. The two grand-daughters are going to a McFly concert with their parents whilst we look after our three year old grandson. When I check out this unofficial website, it makes me wonder who has got the best deal…. http://www.mcfly.org.uk/  You can hear snippets of the songs.

Either I am not really a pensionner or I am in my dotage! The official website photos make it clear that their target groupies are under twelve or so. http://www.mcflyofficial.com/gallery/

The Rain

Took book parcels to post…..in the rain
Took the dog for a walk…..in the rain
Spotted a wren on the fence…..in the rain

Isn't it nice to be indoors now!
I am told the chances are that it will rain here in Dalamory until it snows.

The moon and the tree

The moon and the tree had no words
Only the light of the one bathing the upreaching of the other.
And the badger snorted and snuffled and worried the dirt
Looking at neither.
Look up and rejoice…….
