Deer Watch

Him Behind the Wheel has been reporting deer poo in the garden for the last few days. I have to confess I pooh poohed it…….(sorry about that, I could not resist it.) However, last night Misty chased a couple of red deer out of the back garden, after which I had to deal with the poo.

I suppose there is justice after all.

Labyrinth

Have just finished reading Labyrinth by Kate Mosse. Note the e at the end, she is not a supermodel, though she is a superwriter. I can say that now that I have made the effort to keep going. At one point I was losing patience with all the plots, subplots, conspiracies and mediaeval history. However, the last quarter of the book was rivetting. With all the hype about the Da Vinci Code and its theories and so-called secrets, I feel compelled to cite Labyrinth as simply a good story with a certain amount of historical background, yet of a similar genre. I am a late convert to thrillers and detective stories, but cannot imagine how people take them too seriously. In my experience, real life is strange enough and difficult enough to cope with – a bit of escapism will not harm if taken as just that.

Happy reading!

Sunday prayers

For someone waiting the results of a biopsy….
For someone fearing to go for a scan…..
For someone moving house…..
For someone going for an operation…….
For someone too scared to love…..

Your mercy and care, O Lord.

No – I do not intend to watch the Eurovision Song Contest.
On the other hand, if I am very bored………

Ageing

Decided I wanted something new to read on the topic of positive ageing, I went to www.amazon.co.uk and typed in a few keywords. 98 pages came up. I am still trawling through, and my shopping basket is already creaking ominously. Still, I’ll save most of them for another time. Bookshops tend to stock very little of this genre I have found. I wonder why, after all those of us over sixty are fast becoming the new market force……there are just so many of us – baby boomers!

I’ll let you know if I find anything really good.

Misty update

Misty is still growing – hardly beautiful (she is a bit of a scruffbucket!) But very cute.

Arisaig

The last time we camped at Arisaig, one of the four sons (which one will be nameless!) had an unhappy ten minutes making his way across the sands at low tide wailing at the worm casts. And Yes – the campervan really was moored with that view out of the window.

Back to normal

Arrived home on Saturday after an idyllic few days touring the Western Highlands. OK – I know that is not far from home, and though the campervan only used one tank of diesel, it still seemed a long way. We reached the far west coast of Skye and found the most marvellous beach and nearly wild campsite at Glenbrittle at the foot of the Black Cuillins. Misty enjoyed running free on the beaches and relished sleeping in my bed overnight. (On my pillow to be exact!)

The weather whilst we were away was summer sunshine and today it is gentle rain – ideal for catching up on paperclog. And Yes – to all those non-retirees, there is still paperwork to do even now. My next preaching engagement is not until the first Sunday in June (Pentecost) so there is plenty of time to relax into home again.

Wearing purple

It takes a special kind of person to wear purple.
(And I don’t mean a bishop.)

Thank you Lord for the gift of colour.
