The builders have said they will start our new extension soon.
Pity this plant will have to be moved. Does anyone know its name?

Yes – but whose lunch is it really?
Misty is ever hopeful.

This is why she is hopeful – two plates and no humans in sight.

Weekdays at 8-00pm is a regular date with BBC2 Bill Oddie and Springwatch. Compulsive stuff. We have yet to be convinced that our own little colony of blue-tits have taken up residence in the nesting box this year. Everything seems to be about a month behind. Apart from the bumble bees that is. They have been on the go for weeks, enjoying the well-preserved (chilled) blooms on the early plants.
Off today to Glasgow to the Installation of the new Provost of St Mary’s Cathedral (Scottish Episcopal Church)
Every blessing to the Very Revd Kelvin Holdsworth and his work together with his new congregation.
I am going to wear my white cassock-alb, which will totally confuse the other Church of Scotland Ministers who are due to be there. Not that I like to be controversial or anything like that, though I do confess that the lace may be a bit much for some.
There is one sure way to get the house clean and to enjoy doing the chores….
Decide to write a sermon!
If ever you need to be reminded about how to live – read a book about somebody dying. I have just finished Rowing without oars by Ulla-Carin Lindquist. A quiet book with a gentle dignity, but uncompromising in the truth of all the emotions surrounding a terminal illness.
Read it and live.
From Bus Driver Stuart to a group of angry commuters….
“Will you calm down to a frenzy”……
I like it. And it serves to remind us, in a gentle way, to calm down and see things more clearly.
Hope your Sunday gives you some space for reflection and recharging the batteries.
Practice makes perfect so they say.
I’m afraid that doesn’t apply to me practicing for playing the organ in church this Sunday.
Preaching is a whole lot easier.
Tomorrow is the anniversary of my ordination as a Church of Scotland Minister. So how do I feel now that I am retired? Relieved? Sad? The answer is both of course. I realised that I was too unwell to continue in an onerous full-time post, but I do miss the people and the involvement in the life of the church both locally and nationally. So far I have avoided taking on many commitments, and there never seems to be time to do all the things I would like to do anyway. I have learned a lot this past year, particularly about the importance of silence and listening. And perhaps I am more patient than I used to be. So all in all I shall be thankful tomorrow, for the gift of a vocation and for a life of continually learning.
Not so bad after all…….
Another quiz, this time courtesy of one of my favourite bloggers, Ronni Bennet (Time Goes By).
She says that promoting quizzes is often done when we cannot think of what to blog. But it is funny how many of us cannot resist having a go. So if you are interested in confirming / unconfirming what your political preference is then have a look at The World’s Smallest Political Quiz
