The moon

It was raining last night so I thought there was no chance of seeing the eclipse of the moon. Suddenly, the clouds thinned and there was the last quarter of the moon, the rest being shadowed blood red as the earth passed between the sun and the moon. Sometimes it is good to feel small in the face of creation’s marvels.

Living in the country

Okay so the computer did not arrive yesterday. We do live in the country after all. At least I was given a tracking number from the manufacturer. It seems that a) the carrier has let them down; and b) computer buffs in England do not realise that Scotland is the size that it is. I blame the BBC weather map. It has downgraded us to look like the Midlands or similar.

Visitors are arriving today, so that will take my mind away from non-deliveries, and non-joiners.

Exciting Day

Another busy day here in Dalamory. I ordered a new PC last week and it is due to be delivered today. If it does arrive, and if it all works OK (especially the Windows Vista stuff) – I shall give a commercial to the company and the efficiency of building and ordering online offered by ……………  Actually, I am a bit worried about fitting it together, though I am using the same peripherals so theoretically it should be quite easy. However, I am warned of parity problems with BTBroadband and Vista, so watch this space.

Happy March

First of March, my birthday month…….always a chance to have a whole month of treats. Today, Him Behind the Wheel disappeared behind my closed study door. A lot of banging, swearing and noise ensued for some considerable time, including his muttering foray to find a DIY manual. Result – one spanking new strip light, much appreciated as my desk sits in a very dark corner.

Yesterday’s tests went very well, and there were no nasty surprises. What impresses me is how kind all the staff are. They seemed to have an inordinate amount of patience when compared to their TV counterfeits of Casualty and Holby City. Today’s other treat is to be a Day Off – recovering from yesterday…….well, I don’t recover quickly from sedation.

Tests

Off to hospital today for some unmentionable tests. Just routine (and precautionary) to them…..not like that for me. Still, as I have said before, we are well served with our medical care in this rural region.

Rainy Day

Another rainy day here in Dalamory. Twenty miles to the east there is heavy snow and the roads are blocked. Four hundred feet up and the hills are swathed in white. Seems like a day for staying put. Him Behind the Wheel is making an expedition, by car, to the library van which stops a couple of hundred yards away. The cat is ensconced next to a radiator, the dog is settled on the end of the bed where she has a good view out of the window. I guess the sheets of rain coming down in torrents, makes her realise there is little chance of a walk today.

As for me, well it seems a good idea to catch up on some paperclog.

Joiners

Still not expecting joiners and they still haven’t arrived – even although they promised temporary access would be done last week.

Sprung through the old

web-crocusleaves.jpg

This joyful sign of spring makes me think of how the new can makes its way through the old. Some of the blooms had actually pierced their way right through the autumn leaves. Reactionaries of the world beware!
