There is a house we are interested in and the closing date for offers is next Monday – 31st January. I am tempted to ask all those who pray to pray, and all those who cross fingers to cross toes as well. Then I find myself starting to ask what kind of God I believe in. Perhaps there is someone else praying for their offer to be accepted, perhaps their need is greater than mine. Then I realise that the only competent prayer is the one that asks for God's will to be done.
But I can't help saying PS – Lord, I really would like that house!
God would probably like you to have it too, but if not, there'll be another one! R
