Sharing with the birds

The garden birds are getting share in the birthday month celebrations. A new bird feeder station. It needs to be properly cemented in and is to be stocked up with such delicacies as sunflower hearts, fatballs (unfortunate name for the rounded ones in the household) and dried meal worms. I expect these latter taste better than they look. Photo in due course, as well as wildlife report on whether we can tempt the woodpecker round from the front garden to the back.

Reducing weight

Misty and I are both bad at losing weight. She looks pleadingly at her dish and I put on weight. Goes to show that diets don’t work.

Birthday month outing

Today wasn’t so much a birthday outing as it was a dripping wet drive and dismal walk from the carpark along to the hairdressers. At least the old ladies were in good form for banter. And for the record, I am not one of the oldies there. Not by a long way. I have twenty years or more to go. I have to admire the staff for keeping good humour with us all. It is a small salon, so there is a lot of moving and shifting and shuffling around of bodies from waiting couch to basin to mirror to dryer to mirror to payment desk and thence out the door. And all to the accompaniment of Radio 2 with a banter of its own to add to the cacophany in the shop.

Restful?
I think not. So I think the birthday treat for today will be to do some amazon shopping.

Dreams

Hold fast to dreams
for if dreams die,
life is a broken-winged bird
that cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
for when dreams go,
life is a barren field
frozen with snow.

Update on Misty

Misty, the cairn terrier, went to the vet recently for her vaccinations and check up. Did I mention that the vet said she was “rather sturdy” – (For the sake of clarity it is Misty that is sturdy, not the vet) – anyway, at the weigh in it transpired that the little dog was 8.1kg – noticeably more than her ideal breed weight of 7.5kg. Well, Misty has taken it to heart and has already lost 0.2kg.

The cat didn’t want to be left out so he got weighed too – he is only 5.1kg. His weight and age had to be entered onto the online petmeds people. They want to be sure they are dispensing the correct pills and potions. Amazing really.

Income tax

I shall forbear groaning at the thought of yet another interest rate cut – bad news for savers. However I am happy at the news that I am due a tax rebate. All because of the birthday month.
