Don’t remember where I read it, but I rather like the alternative to seeing a glass as half full or half empty.
—Not enough in it.—
I am not sure whether that is too hedonistic a thought for a Sunday.

If you have been paying attention you will
soon guess – it is Crete (2004)
Another book recommendation. Many a time I have wished I was not coming to the end of the book, but this time is amplified. I reached to within the last hundred pages of The Island by Victoria Hislop, and I have stopped to draw breath……and have gone back to the beginning. I am enjoying it immensely, both for its historicity and insights into human thoughts and behaviours. The book is about the Island of Crete and the leper colony on Spinalonga. Hislop is an expert at weaving tales and describing places so as to make them come alive. I have spent a holiday on Crete, but at the other end of the island from Plaka and Spinolonga, but this revives old memories and makes me want to go back one day.
Now…..back to enjoying the novel – all over again.
Misty, (that’s the cairn terrier) got a lovely card in the post. It has a picture of two spotted dogs having a conversation. One says to the other, “Why did you get kicked out of your obedience class?”
The second replies, “I misheard my owner when she said Now sit.”

trying to please everybody.” ~ Bill Cosby
August has been designated An Anniversary Month and thus treats are fair game. Today it was a visit to Glamis Castle. This is the ancestral home of the late Queen Mum. An excellent start.
Fun with gizmos today. Hint – it gives online access whilst on the move, but it does require patience. Visited the Biblical Garden at Elgin today. Most impressive.
In case you were wondering: two horses, two pigs, ten ducks, half a dozen hens, a cockerel with attitude, three dogs and five cats.
Him Behind the Wheel has taught the gobby cockerel some manners. A shovel was involved.
Just for the record, both are still alive and well.
