Confession

For your information, I have not joined the blue rinse brigade. They are purple streaks.

Glorious What?

How can they call it The Glorious Twelfth when what happens is that umpteen poor birds are slaughtered for sport? Still, at least this year it is so wet that tramping through the moor won't exactly be possible. Some of them might sink.

I mean the humans not the birds.

Haircut

The Captain had a hair and beard trim yesterday. Trim is probably the wrong term. He was scalped. Amazingly it looks quite good and the price was excellent. The problem is that I cannot face having a number two myself, even if it does only cost ?4.00.

Home is where the dog is

Dana is now home and installed and her step-family are away. She was a naughty dog this morning, (when there were too many cooks around) – but has been a model of good behaviour this afternoon.

It is lovely to have her home. So far…..

Homecoming

The house is being tidied in honour of the dog coming back home today after her holidays. Given that she sheds more hair than your average retriever, it is probably all a bit stupid. But it will be nice to see her again.

Patience

I am still learning a lot about patience. In particular, how hard it is to be patient. When visiting older people I have often noted that they have a respect for the use of time. It is to be enjoyed not squandered; that way nothing can be classed as useless. Life is to be savoured and so often we rush around in circles thinking that we are not achieving enough.

I need to apply the same logic to the boat insurance claim. All the paperwork is done and posted, so now it is a case of waiting on other people to shift this around on their desks. It is also worth thinking about time and patience in the eternal realm. In fact, it is a great comfort to know that there is the whole of time, forever and ever……..

Need to Know

For information and interest: cow dung does not wash away easily.

Voice update

Being quiet does not come easily to me, so it was hard to hear the latest medical opinion that my voice is too fragile to allow a return to work. But at least I do have a voice. It does not sound like me, but it is audible though quiet. Someone said yesterday that perhaps this was the way I would always sound. I have been told to aim for a lower pitch – “low and sexy” – was the instruction.

So who shall I be – Fenella Fielding or Nicholas Cage?

Country Life

A new twist on country life was to be seen this morning as the male of the household hosed down the driveway at the gate. Obviously a group of cows in company had been walking along the road, and one of them had a dalliance at our entrance.

Oh well….the joys of life as they say. What I want to know is why it is not raining when you need it to be raining. Still, at least the grass is getting cut.

Progress in Google

It is a matter of great delight that if my name is typed into Google, this blog comes up first on the list. It has taken many months for this to happen, and I can only trust that it is the same for other people doing a search.

Come to think of it, why do I want people to find me like this? Is it like the quote from Shadowlands – “I read to know that I am not alone.” ?
