3192 hits on my blog for the month of September. OK – so it is probably not right. After all, why should 962 people suddenly view pages on the last day of the month.

Still – makes me feel good!
It is a bit like the stock question, “Does my bottom look big in this?”
The correct answer is always No!

Giving in

I have given in. The cat has decided to sleep on the bed- whilst I am in it. To be more exact, he has taken to sleeping on me.

At least the purring is nice.

Puffy Face

A long time ago when we were on a sailing holiday with friends, one of our party woke up with a very puffy face. The other three were not in the least sympathetic, though it was alarming to believe that the wind could really create such havoc on someone's skin.

In the last few weeks I have woken up with a one-sided puffy face and a swollen eye that looks as if someone has bashed me. Both of unknown origin.

Ah well…..I repent.

Speech therapy report

Phrases, patience and practices.

And lots of breathing.
No wonder the dog thinks I am in pain.

Diesel engines and radios

This is a technical question from a very non-technical person. The new motorhome is based on a Fiat Ducato diesel engine, and it has only two positions on the ignition. Either on, (in which case the radio works) or fully on, for the engine to start. Theoretically, I suppose there are three positions because it can also be fully off.

In a car petrol engine, there are four positions: off, on (radio not working), electrical on (radio working) and fully on (engine fires and car goes). My understanding is that a petrol engine has a solenoid which can be burnt out – hence position 3 for the working radio and all other electrics. Presumably, this does not apply for a diesel engine – otherwise the radio cannot be used for more than very limited periods.

So this is a cry for clarification from a confused and technically challenged creature who likes listening to music.

September Weekend

The Glasgow September Weekend holiday really does mark the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. I remember fireworks at Largs in years gone by, photographs with a full moon shining over the sea, and getting engaged 40 years ago.

This year, I am content to walk the dog in between showers and voice exercises, and collapse to read a book.

New arrival

The new motorhome is here at last, looking very swish in its new surroundings. Getting it kitted out is not unlike fitting out a boat. However, it does not swing around in the wind and it is less trouble to anchor.

But what I really cannot understand is that the cooker is not on gimbals.

Badly behaved

We have had visitors and so has Dana. She adores any canine company. But why does it make her so badly behaved? Today's little escapade was to run riot all over the golf course.

Getting things wrong

The funniest thing over the last couple of days was a phone call from Nissan asking to speak to the wife of the Rev Freda Marshall.

Pronounced Fred-ah……..

I know my voice sounds peculiar, but it did not help when I tried to explain in my croakey tones.

Pooh

The House at Pooh Corner is in amongst my Practical Theology books.

That is where it belongs. There is a lot we can learn from Pooh and friends.
