Progress reports

Several things to report: Son #3 is on the mend, he only has a little alien now (see yesterday’s post.) The Pain Association meeting was very helpful – another ancillary health initiative to enable those with chronic conditions to lead a full life. The porch is still not finished….but then you guessed that didn’t you. Finally, at slimming club I took off the pound I put on last week.

Just another ordinary week. How quickly they go by.

Busy day

Busy day indeed! First to a meeting of the Pain Association – all about how to pace oneself. I certainly could do with some reinforcement of what I ought to already know. Then some food shopping at the supermarket (to justify parking in their carpark) and finally a visit to #3 son who has been unwell. I particularly liked his description of a stomach bug. Like aliens about to burst out of your belly I am sure the doctor liked it too.

Amazing Grace

Watched the dvd of Amazing Grace which tells the story of the abolutionist William Wilberforce. It was like a series of vignettes exploring key moments, people and issues. Lots to think about and an inspiration to look online for more information about that period. Sadly, slavery is still an evil throughout the world, it is perpetrated in all sorts of ways. The message of the film is that there is hope in the darkness – even today.

Dry weather

In the end, the rain stayed away. There is now a pile of Leylandi offcuts in the driveway. Dimensions are approx 10 metres long by six metres wide by two metres high. It is to be hoped that the local authority do an uplift for garden waste.

Hedges

Friends are here for the weekend complete with chainsaw. The aim is to reduce the height of the hedges before they get totally skybound. The weather has been dry and sunny now for two weeks or more. So what is it doing today? Threatening rain of course.

Slimming Club

Weight loss goes along the same lines as technology and the ipod nano. First you consider the weight you have to lose, then you lose half a stone, then you gain the odd pound or two or three, then you go back to losing the odd half a pound, or so. Which leaves me where I am today – needing to get more serious about the whole thing, and that means weighing and counting points. Tonight at slimming club we were told that excuses are just that. If you are having visitors for the weekend, save up some points in advance.

Well, there are visitors coming for the weekend, but as to the advance points……. I will leave them to your imagination.

Apple and Vista

Is it me, is it apple or is it vista? Between them they are causing me an enormous headache. First you load your itunes, then you register your ipod, then Vista shuts down in a huff. Then everything freezes. Then you take off all the software you first thought of and look up an instruction book. Then you manage to reset and shut down the ipod nano. Then you breathe a sigh of relief and leave it all aside for another day.
