Misty was at the vet yesterday to get her eyes checked. She has had a shortage of “tears” in her right eye for some time, which necessitates ointment every day. (That is the tears you cry rather than tears that cause blood.) Anyway, the other eye has been looking a bit red and it has to be watched carefully in any case, so off we trotted to the vets. Well, to be accurate, the humans trotted – the dog had to be carried. She has a slight infection so requires antibiotic in that eye. Have you got it? One ointment once a day in the right eye and another ointment twice a day in the left eye.

This house is getting more and more cluttered up with pills and potions. Never mind, I am assured they all serve to keep the occupants healthy.

Misty had another visit to the vet yesterday – this time to our home surgery. She shivered and was all pathetic despite being petted and reassured, but it turned out it was just as well she was seen again. One of her eyes is apparently not producing enough tears. (They do a special timed test with litmus paper.) So now she has a fortnight of twice daily application of a sticky cream, then a return visit. Her skin is slowly improving with the soothing baths. What a tough time for the little dog.

And for the adults too!

Fox has come off worst in what was presumably a fight between cats. He has lost a chunk of fur and skin on his forehead. Talk about looking like a gangster-cat! He has been to the vet today and the antibiotic injection seems to have calmed him down a bit. He has to go back for another on Friday. I did wonder about asking the vet if he could be tranquilised to stop the fighting, but I suspect he would simply get scratched about more.

And before you ask, Yes, he has been neutered.

Not so much a day in Dalamory as half a day:
It snowed, the snow went away, it sunned, the dog was walked and rolled in something unmentionable. The good news was that she was wearing a coat at the time. The new shower is leaking again and there has been no sign of the joiner for nearly three months! (Bear in mind there is about two day’s work at most to completion of the extension.)

Oh yes – and the cat is sneezing. He is due at the vet’s for a booster jab soon anyway.

As I have said before – how did I ever have time to work?
