It’s going to happen

Yes – it’s official, Christmas is starting to happen. However there is a problem. This year’s additions to the Fontanini crib set consist of an elephant from a source in America, plus a goat, a dog and a shepherd boy from my usual source in the south of England. The elephant arrived in plenty of time but there has been a delay on the others. A crisis if you will, with the goat and dog especially upset at being stranded somewhere between the south and north of the UK. Apparently, big online stores are suspending orders because the bad weather has backed up deliveries and there are problems getting everything cleared in time for the holidays.

The celebrations started when HBTW appeared, puffing and panting a bit, weighed down with boxes and tree from the garage loft. Before I could so much as whisk a duster, installations commenced. A half glass of Amontillado each (and a dipped finger-full for Misty) and we were well on the way – to putting up the decorations, not to dissipation and inebriation.

Photos later, if you’re good.

  1. There are a few things in this post of which I am ignorant. What is Amontillado, and is it bad for dogs? What is the Fontanini crib set? Yes photos would be nice, but I am not very good some of the time.

I’m betting the crib set is what we would call a manger scene. No clue about the Amontillado, but it must be good and with some alcohol.

After her Amontillado maybe Misty can either a] use her special powers to locate the missing dog, or b] pose for it in its place! Scruffy as she can be I doubt if she would be able to double for a goat, no matter how much you coax her.

    Amontillado & Me
    (by Miss T Marshall)

What are my folks trying to do to me. I used to be allowed Grapes but now don’t get these as I am told they are bad for me. Then it was chocolates which I love. I know I used to be allowed a little bit of chocolate when they were having some but after the episode with the full box of lovely choccies I am not allowed this any more. Now they have introduced me to Amontillado and boy, do I like it. I bet they find out soon that this is another thing I am not allowed. It really is a dog’s life here in Dalamory.
Merry Christmas to one and all – from MISTY

Dianne, Amonitillado is a rather luxurious sherry – quite sweet which is why Misty tried to get into the glass. The Fontanini crib set (manger scene) is an Italian made set of figures based on different scale sizes, ours is the 5 inch one. Each year I add one or more figures so they now stretch out all across the piano. The photos are in the process of being done!

All the comments are making me feel festive myself. (Just as well it is too early for sherry, though I am going to be writing my Christmas cards today…..)
