SPOILER ALERT Perhaps the most memorable bit is the <i>crescendo</i> of anticipation prior to the appearance of Jesus. I don't mind feeling anticipation in person, but I noticed it and consciously read-back a few pages to see what device the author had used to build it, at which point it became a device of the author's manipulation not an authentic feeling, as slippery as a greased eel in a world of criticism...
