Hornblower

I have nearly finished my first ever read of a CS Forrester book in the famous Hornblower series. There hasn’t been a “splice the mainbrace” yet. Mind you I am reading it with a handy laptop nearby to look up such phrases as “wear the ship” and beware “stays” and the dreaded weevils.

All good fun. My excuse is that I am still in the convalescing stage of the flu, however, I have to admit that it is getting more enjoyable.

I love Hornblower! I read the whole series, one after the other, while feeding my no. 1 son. (The second son saw me through much of the oeuvre of Graham Greene)

I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Great stuff.
