Skype

There is a new word in my vocabulary…..Skype….

To skype means to “phone” someone via the internet and broadband and is an excellent way of talking to friends throughout the world for no cost. All you need is a good internet connection, a pair of headphones and the programme itself. Check it out at www.skype.com

    I occasionally use skype.

Maybe some day we should hook up a chat, see how it does across the pond.

Skype is wonderful!  Took me a while to stop pronouncing it 'Sky-pay' and start pronouncing it so that it rhymes with 'hype', which seemingly from their FAQs is how it should be pronounced.  I secretly still prefer my vocalisation.

    Hoorah for technological clergy!

To add to your requirements list, Freda, if you are using Windows it only works under Windows 2000 or XP (or newer).  I discovered this when I recommended to a friend in Inverness that he download it (over a dial-up connection) only to talk him through the installation over MSN Messenger to discover that he had Windows 98 and it wouldn't run.

Been enjoying your blog, Freda.  Can't find your email address, however, to send you a message.  Please feel free to contact me and I'll get back in touch with you.  It's been many years since St Andrews!  I met up with Robert Watt the other week at a conference at New College.

    Blessings,

    Gareth

I thought I’d logged in, seemingly not. Sorry!
