Pop stars and religion

The front cover of the Church of Scotland's Life and Work Magazine is graced with a hunky-looking Darius, (of Pop Idol fame). Whatever next? Apparently he prays every day and his Muslim father encouraged a Christian upbringing. The headline on the cover says “Young, Sexy and Christian – the Pop Idol runner-up who prays every day.”

Who is this aimed at I wonder?  Reminds me of the John Bell fan-club (the old ladies who whisper as he comes into church, Doesn't he look like Jesus….)

You could have told us where to find Darius's webpage – http://www.dariusmusic.com/

I don't think he looks like Jesus though.

How sad! When will Christians learn not to compete with the world? I mean, Christians are to be the light, the salt, the alternative. When we start trying to package Christ as a commodity to sell people on we seem to say that God is not enough on His own. God is everything. He is what we’re all searching for whether we know that yet or not. We don’t have to make Him more attractive – how ludicrous! And as far as making Christians or Christianity more attractive – it’s not a matter of working on abs or wearing the trendiest clothers, but in being more loving and more Christlike. I’m sorry for going on such a rant! I know I’m “preaching to the choir!”. Thanks for your blogs! I’ve enjoyed reading them very much.
